In a recent interview with Rollingstone Mag, Suge Knight explains the production behind Snoop Doggs Doggystyle album. When asked "What do you remember about Doggystyle's production?" Suge replies "[It] was was pretty much luck. Everybody thought [Dr. Dre] would be doing the records, but Daz pretty much did the whole album. And at the end of the day, once Daz finished it, everybody wanted Andre to get the credit. Next thing I know Daz is having a meeting with Andre and them and came back and said, "It's okay, give me a few bucks and I'll sign anything over that says produced by Andre instead of me."
Now he could just be bitter because of the whole Death Row thing with Dre but in my own opinion I can 100% believe it. If you really paid attention, Daz's name is all over Dre's The Chronic and Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle for production credit. And during his time with Nas's The Firm, he got help from Chris "The Glove". Then during Aftermath he had help from Mel-Man (who also told of Dre taking credit when he left him back in early 2000's) as well as The Chronic 2001 where Dre got the most help from Scott Storch.
In all the credits, Dre does't touch none of the instruments it's all other musicians playing them. So.. yea.. A producer does tells musicians what to play but this isn't the case in here. Dre has taken credit for being the main producer in most of his work when the fact is he prob took credit for other peoples shit!!
