Jay Dee Inducted Into The Smithsonian

On Thursday 7-17-14 Maureen 'Ma Dukes' Yancey along with Timothy Anne Burnside (Curatorial Specialist for the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture) announced James 'J Dilla' Yancey's enshrinement (and his beat-making equipment) as a national treasure (which became a Trending Topic on Twitter). This news came following Ma Dukes announcement of J Dilla 'The King of Beats' Box Set ('Ma Dukes' Yancey Collectors Edition), a Rollingtsone.com Premiere of "Filth" and as GQ Magazine named “Donuts” one their '21 Best Albums Of The 21st Century.’

In a new Huffington Post exclusive, Mrs. Yancey discusses her son’s induction into the Smithsonian and it is now apparent very careful planning went into this project. We have now learned the foreword for the J Dilla Box Set booklet was provided, by none other than Timothy Anne Burnside along with other historical contributors and never before seen content. In addition, artists such as DJ Jazzy Jeff, Slimkid3 (The Pharcyde), Young RJ, Apollo Brown, Illa J, Pete Rock and Pharoahe Monch add their own personal commentary on Dilla and his induction to the Smithsonian.
