Welcome to An Archaeologist's El Dorado, a monthly segment that brings you 3 - 5 artists you have had hypersomniac over. El Dorado, or commonly known as the lost city of gold, in this case are the artists you have been searching after. A lucky archaeologist such as yourself, now has the ability to study the specific human activity below through the recovery and analysis of the material culture I have provided for you. I now present to you the files of April 2015: Deon, Brewski, Judge, & Trag Tha God.
Deon

Usually when I type these articles up for the younger artists to gain a bit more of exposure, I listen to that particular artist's music as I write. When I found out about Deon I was so pleased and excited to hear a rapper that focused on the placement of words for exquisite rhyme patterns that I had to get more.
"Hyperventilate or hibernate a hyper ape inside a hyperbolic chamber, tame him, time awaits."
"Los Angeles candles and cannabis cannons bust off like Nas on the damage handle."
I ended up contacting him and he was so excited that he gave me all of his earlier music; now, as I type this I find myself in a quite interesting predicament...what shall I listen to from this artist to get me in that Deon mood?
Deon is no stranger to the music scene as he has released two mixtapes in his five years of recording. His latest, Carbon, was released about a year ago and peaked at a little over 30K downloads. The unique style of Deon's music can easily be heard through his inspirations and who he has been listening to as of late.
At an early age, his all-time favorite, Nas insipired him to begin writing with such songs as "Rewind", "What Goes Around", and "I Gave You Power". Along with Nas, Blu and Kanye West gave Deon the urge to buy a mic and to begin recording his first tracks while he was a junior in high school.
Fast Forward to present day and the 19 year old artist originally out of Maryland, is hard at work at WVU finishing up his sophomore year while delicately balancing his music.
While his early inspirations gave him the go-go juice to start everything up, Ab-Soul, Mick Jenkins, Vince Staples, and Saba are the current fuel that Deon uses to dream up words and put them on paper.
Brewski

Born, Robert O' Brien, Brewski grew up on the south side of Chicago. The 22 year old wasn't always drawn to rap/hip hop and actually had a strong interest in rock/metal music prior.
As a young kid, Robert was the front man in several rock/metal bands and didn't switch genres until shortly after he got his nickname of "Brewski" at the age of 15. The change came when he was a senior in high school at the De La Salle Institute.
Since then, Brewski has primarily been focused on his high octane raps. Last year the video to a track named "Chauffeur" gained access on WorldStar and ever since then he has been skyrocketed with success. With nationwide buzz with tracks/videos for "Chauffeur" and "Cocky", their is no question why he is heading upwards. Also on Brew's resume is having the chance to open for huge names in the music industry including: Wu-Tang Clan, Big Sean, Twista, and Nappy Roots. Most recently the rapper headlined and sold out the House of Blues in Chicago.
Currently Brewski is hard at work on his project, The Confidence LP, which will release on April 13th.

Judge

Rarely have I ever included just a pure producer on these segments; most of the time it's just rappers/emcees who have the ability to produce as well. But...one man by the name of Judge is just that good.
The producer, Paul Judge, hails from Kansas City, Missouri. Judge has been producing professionally now for 7+ years for artists such as Kyle Lucas, Marc Goone, Futuristic, Irv Da Phenom and many more.
In today's artist heavy industry, it may be hard for producers to get any light at all, unless of course you are a heavy hitter. Judge, however, has done many things that the big guys have already done;
Viewed millions of times on YouTube? Check
Produced singles that chart on Billboard and iTunes? Check
Featured on ads, radio, films, TV shows? Check
What makes Judge so unique is his ability to do anything. Now, I say anything and I pretty much mean anything. He is so creative in terms of not just staying in your typical hip hop sounds; the producer on the rise isn't afraid to test his own boundaries and create new standards within any kind of genre.
Currently, the producer is working on a multitude of projects with artists all around the country and has numerous surprises for everyone for 2015. Don't be surprised when your favorite artist releases a track with a production tag from Judge.

Trag Tha God

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Allister Darius Boima is a 20 year old emcee and producer from New Britain, CT. As an early child, Allister was always a fan of music but was never a fan of hip hop because of the offensive content & lyrics. It wasn't until Allister heard music (Ghetto Qu'ran & How To Rob) from the rapper, 50 Cent, that he started to get into the hip hop culture.
Being influenced by multiple genres, Trag primarily gets his inspiration for hip hop from Nas, Lupe Fiasco, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and of course 50 Cent.
To date, Trag has released a ton of content including 7 mixtapes and 2 albums which all showcase his lyrical prowess. With all of this content it's no surprise that Trag has been signed by a couple of independent labels over the past.
Over time, nothing has really worked out and today, Trag is only apart of the hip hop collective, Tha Nation Entertainment headed out of Connecticut consisting of various emcees, producers, and DJ's in the area.
With all the material already released from the CT rapper, the best chapter is yet to come in the form of his official "debut" album. Currently in the works, Trag Tha God's G.O.D. 2 will be released on June 16th, 2015, and it'll be available worldwide via iTunes, Google Play, Spotify.
