Following his impressive "I'm Just Talkin'" mixtape that dropped only 3 months ago, New York talent Jelani Sinclair hits us with his latest project. At only 4 tracks the talented emcee and producer plays both parts displaying both a dope soulful and jazz soundscape as well as dope conscious lyrics. Here is what he has to say:
Lately, my mind has been on 1000! I think it always has been this way, but I'm starting to take notice of it more often. A bunch of random thoughts will QUICKLY turn themselves into lyrics. So, I just jotted them down as rough drafts. I went home one day and sat on my bed with my laptop. I randomly decided that I wanted to challenge myself and make a beat in under 10 minutes. I ended up making 4 of them! They all had a "good vibe" feel to them and I liked how they came out - strong but simple. Oddly enough, the rough draft of lyrics I had jotted down some time before had that same "good vibe" feeling. So it matched! But, what I what I liked about the production and the lyrical content was how spontaneous they were. I didn't want to change that. I wanted to keep that "raw" energy, that spur-of-the-moment feeling. And, this is what came out of it.
