Elliott Trent - Apollo [EP]

Scouting new talent to feature on the blog, I came across Columbus, Ohio native, Elliott Trent. Thrilled does not begin to express how I felt as I listened to the first track, "You The One," off his mixtape, Apollo. It's rare to come across a damn near flawless mixtape from an underground artist who hasn't been discovered by the popular blogs saturating everyone's Twitter Timeline. I feel like I came across a goldmine that hasn't been discovered. Instead of exploiting this notion, I seriously want to keep this great secret to myself, but I would also do a great disservice both to those who are hungry for new music from an unheard of artist; and to Trent who would probably enjoy the exposure. I am confident in knowing in a few months he will catch some attention and begin to bubble to the surface.

Apollo is a well crafted, flawless, 10- track EP establishing the notion that Trap Soul is here to stay pushing the culture of music. Trent floats on every song showing his ability for singing and songwriting, especially on his hooks. His production is strong throughout the project holding my attention from beginning to end. Ironically, he saves his features, with Jerome Milly, for the end of the tape just in case you thought he couldn't hold his own weight. With minimum information on Trent, he seems to be a man with experience from woman, heartbreak, and love. Whatever the case is, Trent is well on his way. Be sure to check out his project below.
