Chance The Rapper ft. Saba - Angels [Music Video]

Chicago Mayor in the making, Chance The Rapper, drops off visuals to accompany his iconic track "Angels." You know the song, it's been all over ever since Chano premiered it on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. It got love (from real fans and converts alike), it got radio play, and now it's got a music video.

Unsurprisingly, the visuals further the hyper-focused, calculated characterization of Chance The Rapper as Chicago's hero. Previously, this role was achieved through his growing love of releasing uplifting songs aimed at celebrating life, fostering hope, and cherishing community. Now, however, Chance's metaphorical role as savior has been pushed into the literal as he soars around his city sporting a jumpsuit, goggles, and, of course, his iconic Sox hat.

Through the help of some humble animation Chance's goggles are intermittently amended into pulsating yellow spectacles. This treatment harkens back to the eye-bulging after effects employed in videos like "LSD" and "Smoke Again" perhaps acting as a little shoutout to the days when Chance's subject matter was more heavily drugged out. While Chance has moved on to rapping about more pressing issues, we can rest assured knowing the acid rapper we all love lives on in some capacity. Who knows, maybe he'll even make a full-on reprisal somewhere within the third mixtape dropping (hopefully) within the month.
