Hip hop's busiest beatsmith illfigure drops "Cruisin'," the lead single off of his upcoming collaborative project Without Hope. The sample-free, trap-inspired production is an oxymoron of sorts. Featuring brimming synths juxtaposed against a hollow melody and tight snares, the track leaves listeners with a sense of synthetic warmth. Your girlfriend's favorite Soundcloud rapper hops on the track to deliver some ruthless, flowtastic rhymes aimed at opening the world's eyes to the reality of his raps.
In our Artist Spotlight on the illfigure, it was revealed that the creative has over 40 beat tapes under his belt. That being said, it was also revealed that he plans to break away from the rapid-fire releases to allow more time for collaborations and exacted soundscapes. The first project in that vein was his glorious 17-track EP Mindful But Inactive which boasts a whopping eleven features. "Cruisin'" is a strong first showing that surely foreshadows greatness from the forthcoming Mindful But Inactive follow-up Without Hope.
