Likwit affiliate and West Coast beast Defari shouldn't be a new name to you underground heads. Debuting on the scene with his Billy The Kid project on ABB, Mr Herut quickly became a voice of the underground scene in California. 1998 saw his classic Tommy Boy album "Focus Daily" which in my opinion was one of the best albums that year. After mellowing out from his 3rd and 4th releases, Odds & Evens in 2003 and 2006's Street Music, Defari seemed to disappear from the game only to make appearances on tracks with his Dilated fam and Strong Arm Steady to name a few.
2016 looks to be his comeback year as his homie Evidence, who executive produced Focused Daily, is in line to entirely produce his long awaited and anticipated album "Soundcheck". With the work Ev has been putting in the last few years, we should expect a very worthy effort and comeback. And this first serving, "West Up", proves it.
