Saint Paul, MN newcomer Naj presents his debut visual for "Mockingbird". While representing the many of us who are trying to survive in the world, Naj flows over his all time producer J Dilla's "Flyyy Instrumental".
"The song has a lot of influences behind it. People like Fred Hampton, Huey P. Newton, Whitney Houston, MLK, Malcolm X, Prince and Tupac all who I all reference in the hook of the song as being the mockingbird. Also this song was influenced by the books "To Kill A Mocking Bird" by Harper Lee and "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" by Maya Angelou both books are autobiographies where the authors use the reference of a bird to symbolize one's self."
