Yasiin Bey (Formerly Mos Def) Announces Final Album And Live Performances

Yasiin Bey, formerly and more notably known as Mos Def has had a tumultuous 2016 to say they least. After his travel issues and being detained in South Africa for having false documents, he announced that he will be retiring. Fortunately, these charges were released and he is now able to travel freely.

With his upcoming retirement, he has announced he will be releasing his fifth and final solo album. It is titled "December 99th". It's set to drop December 9th and is produced by Ferrari Shepard. This was recorded in South Africa during his time there when he was not able to leave the country. Yasiin and Ferrari have released some tracks earlier in the year and he was featured on a track by "A Tribe Called Red" called "R.E.D." We've had such a drought of new music from Yasiin in the past years that I can't wait to hear what he has for his musically deprived fans.

Tracklist below:

1. N.A.W.
2. Blade In The Pocket
3. SPESH
4. Local Time
5. Tall Sleeves
6. Seaside Panic Room
7. Shadow In The Dark
8. It Goes
9. Special Dedication

Along with his final album, Yasiin will be doing a farewell tour of sorts with 4 final shows. One will be at the iconic and legendary Apollo Theater and he will be doing 3 straight nights in Washington, DC at the Kennedy Center. Each night in DC will have Bey performing songs from different albums so each night will be a unique experience. This will literally be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see him perform before he says goodbye forever. I would think that these shows will have a variety of special guests on stage with the living legend. It would be amazing to see Talib Kweli and Common perform the track "Respiration" from Mos and Kweli's "Black Star" LP. I had a chance to see them perform this live years ago and it was amazing. Yasiin has worked with so many of Hip Hop's biggest and most influential names over the years. Who knows who might show up. Well there's only one way to find out Yasiin fans.

Check out the tour dates below and be a part of Hip Hop history.

12/21 – New York, NY, Apollo Theater
12/31 – Washington, DC, Kennedy Center
