Oakland Group Trey Coastal Debuts With EP and Video

The trio, comprising rappers Cam Moss and Philip Bank$ and producer Rye Mann releases their debut EP, No Lay-Ups (Side A). The EP has a nice sound, with production largely sampling jazz and acoustic instrumentals. The lyrics too are frank, political, and sincere with lines like "How do I accept a message from a slave master? / That's like taking direction from a slave catcher" and "They trying to kill me like I got divine mind of a leader." Some nice subtle word play. The group is set to release No Lay-Ups (Side B) in coming months.

Along with No Lay-Ups (Side A), Trey Coastal released a video for the track Polynesian Sand. The EP's lyrics are more serious than not, but the video gives you a sense of the group's penchant for ridiculousness.
