While writing the album, Wanderlust, emcee Justin and the Honored None was inspired by the essay, “The Creative Process” written by James Baldwin. The title, Wanderlust represents the desire for experience and a departure from oppressive societal values. Interwoven with social and political commentaries, Justin explores his own layers, self growth and past experiences growing up in Sacramento, with jazzy, stream of conscious, sometimes witty lyrics. They combine with the abstract, eclectic, lo-fi production of Jackson Nakanishi to paint a vivid collage of ideas that is purely hip hop. The album features Like of Pac Div, and J.Lately.
