Ajani entitled the EP Cocoons because it centers on his experiences finding his voice and growing as an artist and a person. Each track speaks to a different breakthrough and obstacle being overcome for the emcee, who grew up in extreme poverty while bouncing around Chicago's South Side. Cocoons is a recollection of hardships, but also a testament that they can be overcome.
