The conscious goes unconscious on Planet On Lock, the latest album from Apollo Campbell. Unconscious of course referring to his knack for snapping on every track. On Planet on Lock thoughtful bars string together extended metaphors and analogies suggestive of things we should be thinking about. All of which is done so without preachy overtones or feeling force fed, but rather with laid-back conviction and delivery. The Toronto artist speaks his peace on exotic production from BagirBa and Lnguage. The left-field instrumentals set the tone for the project, allowing Campbell to provide his angles on socioeconomic issues that plague the people around him.
