Devine Carama - "16 Bars For Breonna" (produced by Luvjonez Music)

In a unique way to keep Breonna Taylor's name and unresolved death in the forefront of our minds, hip hop artist & community activist Devine Carama, vows to write, record and release one 16 bar verse EVERY day until Breonna Taylor's killers are brought to justice. This Sunday, July 19th, Devine started on his artistic journey with his first verse, "16 Bars For Breonna" produced by Portland's own, Luvjonez Music. Each writing will feature themes ranging from police brutality, systemic oppression and racial inequality. Check out some of Devine's thoughts about the initiative below as well as a link to the music.

"A large part of my message to the young people I serve across the country is finding your purpose and leading from the unique gifts that God has given you and knowone else. Often times we believe activism or leadership is a monolithic template and if we don't fit into specific boxes then we don't have what it takes to lead. I'm not a politician, I'm not a millionaire businessman, or the CEO of a company. I don't even have a college degree. But I am an artist with a service minded heart, therefore THAT is how I choose to make a difference in my community. I hope that my small sacrifice in producing music day in and day out motivates others to lead from wherever their gifts are. I hope that the daily verses will keep Breonna Taylor's name at the forefront of people's mind which will inspire more people to engage in direct action so that she can get the justice that she deserves"!
